Chicken or Beef?

I finally did it! My room was in desperate need of a makeover...
So when I was 16, my room looked like this:

It kind of had a colourful/cluttered feel to it and although I loved this at the time, a lot has changed in four years.
It was definitely time for something different.

I have always loved the look of white and blue together with a Parisian feel, not so much a nautical theme and the look of straight, clean lines.

I think the curtains soften the lines and keep it looking feminine, so I might get some more and pad it out a bit.

So now it looks like this:

I don't know how well the colours have come out in this photo, the blue is more of a steel/grey blue than has shown up in the photo (it almost looks purple). I'll have to take some more photos of the other walls that have more of the art and prints that I had framed.

I feel like I can finally rest now that it's done. But... now I need a new project!

So a customer threw a lightbulb at me at work yesterday;
...
I think that pretty much speaks for itself.

A First for Everything

I am currently in the process of moving my room around. Trying my bed against all different walls is exhausting - it's a double size made from solid wood. I can't decide which wall it should be against, which is awfully frustrating.

In my exhaustion, I flopped down on the bed (currently situated smack bang in the middle of the room - against no wall) and two hours later, I am still relaxing there...   :)

Had some fun experimenting today, putting together some new outfits. Freaked out with excitement when I found a new way to wear sheer Harem pants that I sewed for an Arabian Nights themed party (see Song of Style). They took so long to make (I'm not a fabulous seamstress), but for obvious reasons, I could never wear them again!!

It kind of looks like I'm picking something off my shoe....

I probably would never wear this out of my house, simply because I'm just not sure I could pull it  off.
HOWEVER, it was fun to mix it up a little.

Paint the Town... with Pastels

Studying is finally over. Whether I passed or failed, I have no idea... and to be honest, it's the furthest thing from my mind right now.

To celebrate the end of exams, two of my girlfriends and I went to the new Max Brenner that just opened in Brisbane *drool*.
For lovers of chocolate, it is a mouthgasm waiting to happen.

Spontaneously, we all decided it was the most appropriate and fitting occasion for us all to hit the town.

...

...

And hit it we did.

Bring on the next three months of chilling out by the beach, being with friends, FINALLY redecorating my room, DIY projects (my guilty pleasure), TV on DVD and an inappropriate amount of eating out.

Thank goodness I never applied for that Summer Internship.
:D

Goodbye Cruel World

I am developing a gnarled hand and a very soft behind... from summarising too many cases (which may or may not be from a 'Const Law for Dummies' book anyway) and sitting down all day, taking sleeping breaks and mowing down my favourite comfort/de-stresser foods in excess:

Strawberry Ice cream (Brusters)

Dreamy Donuts *drool*

Milk Tea with Pearls

Green Tea

... Boredom eating will be the death of me.

All Americain

Happyyyy Melbourne Cup!
I took a break from studying for finals to watch the Melbourne Cup for 2010.

 smh.com.au

I, being the expert punter that I am of course, won zero dollars from my gambling efforts (saaaad) however, an impromptu lunch with my mother and brother just about made up for it.

This is the fascinator I made just before leaving the house this morning... I think it goes alright... *cough*
You can just catch my 'mind mapping' of the Federal Pact in the background =='

On another note.... celebratory (or in my case for 'just for the hell of it') champagne beckons. That is all.

Fresh

Next birthday, I'll be 20. Currently, I have a very 'teenage' room. When I was 16 my mother and I put on our decorator hats and had a good go at redecorating my room - and it turned out so well (at the time). Soon however, I will no longer be a teenager, and I think it's time that the purple and green walls took a long journey into the land of 'gone forever', and as per this fictional land's namesake, never return.

Enough said, really.

....

Redecorating is one of my favourite things. I seem to collect nick nacks along the way through my everyday life, here and there, so finding new ways of presenting them is always fun. Today I went shopping for curtains and picture frames to mount some of the prints I have collected and a couple of magazine covers that I like.

So... when I visited the store, of course I came back with only two frames, and a giant replica picasso.
=='

Regardless of the fact that was not at all what I set out to get, I am in love with these sketches, and can't wait to put all my new furniture together and set up. The only problem is, I promised myself that I would only start collecting little things now, so the shock to my bank account would not be so huge, all at once. But today I went out and bought new shelves, bedside table and a desk... the temptation is almost too much.

I have to wait 'til finals are over before I can continue to release creative energy. Ugghhh.
